Tequila – let’s pick her back up again

I left the first Tequila book off on a cliffhanger, much to my daughter’s chagrin. I promised I would fix it. It’s been almost three years and I’m ready. I think I’m a much better writer now and I have more time to do it. I plan on having a big wedding in the second book. I’m not telling who, but it’s gonna be fabulous. Tequila’s mother will show up and fireworks are gonna fly. I hope to have this done by the end of December. I need to outline and write, write, write.

I hope you’ll read her and then you can see how I’ve grown as a writer and  maybe as a person. I admit I’m no Stephen King or Anne Rice, but I’m okay and I’m happy with that. I don’t aspire to be J.K. Rowling although…. 🙂

Why Did I Write a Trump Book?

I wrote How Many Trump Supporters Does It Take to Screw in a Lightbulb because I felt scared about the Trump phenomenon and also hope to shamelessly cash in on it. I’m being sarcastic. I wanted to put the feelings of angst and anger to rest. I am frightened of his misogyny and racism. I am scared that he will be a dictator and take away some very basic freedoms. I am scared of all of that and, as an artist, I wanted to deal with it in my own way.

This is very much a for me kind of book. I would want other people to pay to read it, of course. I care if you like it, of course. I’m a bit of a narcissist. What writer isn’t? I feel I have something interesting to say and want you to be interested in it too. However, I really wanted to put Trump to rest. I’m sick of the media surrounding him. I’m sick of the rabid crowds surrounding him. I’m sick of white privilege.

I am a daughter of an immigrant from Italy. My mother’s family came over in 1956. My grandparents never really assimilated or learned the language. They tried, but they didn’t. I respect immigrants no matter where they come from or how they got here. I am married to a  man who has Mexican heritage. I love his family and him and my part-Mexican daughter. I hate that Trump lumps all Mexicans together. My mother-in-law’s family has been here longer than my family has been and they are hard-working, good people with strong values.

I am also a fat woman. I am Trump’s worst nightmare. I am not a ten. Oh fucking well. Too bad. I am proud of who I am. I earned my life. I am also disabled. I struggle with bipolar disorder and fibromyalgia and when he made fun another disabled American I was horrified.

I don’t understand his popularity. I don’t get the Trump phenomenon and I hope he doesn’t make it all the way to the White House. I hope my book might make someone rethink a vote for Trump. If not, oh well. At least, I did something about my fear.

How Two “Documentaries” Shaped Donald Trump’s opinions of Muslims and Iraqi War Vets

How Two “Documentaries” Shaped Donald Trump’s opinions of Muslims and Iraqi War Vets

Donald Trump is nothing if not smart. He loves to watch documentaries with his family. Two specific documentaries have helped shape his ideals. They are “Aladdin” and “Three Kings.”  Since watching “Aladdin,” Trump has decided that we must appoint an ambassador to Agrabah. He really thinks that we can work with Jafar. “He’s one heck of an adviser,” he told his press secretary.  He also feels that corruption is at every level of Muslim societies because even princes can be thieves. He loves the monkey and wonders why only undocumented Mexicans like Dora the Explorer and Aladdin get to have monkeys as sidekicks. He was overheard asking an aide, “Can I have a monkey be my VP? They sure seem to get a lot done. Not like that Chris Christie. He gets my damn McDonald’s order wrong all the time…and it comes back half-eaten, the fat slob. I want to build a wall to keep him out of the Oval Office.”

He also didn’t know that Arabic women could be so hot. “That Jasmine, she’s a looker. If more Muslim women looked like her, I might reconsider my Syrian refugee policy.”

As for the genie, Trump says that’s just a government handout and has no place in American society. People just can’t wish for things. They have to have their father give them an inheritance so they can build a real estate empire out of it. You know, through good, old-fashioned hard work.  The way real Americans do it. Not those filthy Mexican rapists.

The other, more disturbing information that Trump has come across is that Iraqi war veterans took money from the US during the first Gulf War. Yup. Of course, Trump, a staunch supporter of veterans’ rights has had to chastise the military for being dishonest. As Trump actually said, “Iraq, crooked as hell. How about bringing baskets of money – millions and millions of dollars – and handing it out? I want to know who were the soldiers that had that job, because I think they’re living very well right now, whoever they may be.”*

He also told Mark Wahlberg and George Clooney to give the money back. It was the right thing to do. George Clooney, a solid Clinton supporter, said, when asked, “What a fucking idiot? I can’t believe he’s the Republican nominee.” Mark Wahlberg, on the other hand, had stronger words for Trump, “American soldiers had a difficult job in Iraq, and they did it to the best of their ability. We believe that American soldiers are heroes. They are not grifters. Anyone who suggests otherwise has no right to be commander-in-chief.”

Indeed.

I Cried

I have been doing a lot of crying lately. America is a mess. Black people are being slaughtered even in open carry states. Black lives matter is a movement that is mostly positive, mostly non-violent.

Unfortunately, last night a protest turned violent and 12 officers were shot in Dallas, TX

I cried for Alton Sterling’s son. The video is so moving. It will make you weep. His son has since been hospitalized for a breakdown. That 15 year old will never see his father again. I ache for him.

I cried for Philando Castile. He did not deserve to die either.

Those police officers did not deserve to get shot. I cried for them too. Only a small number of officers are guilty of these murders. We can’t declare war on cops. They are too vital to our existence.

We must find another way.

I hope to not have to cry again today for some senseless violence or loss of life. When did life become so meaningless to us? Everyone is precious to someone as Alton Sterling’s son shows us. Remember that.

Please, I don’t want to cry anymore.
